Santiago de Compostela Tuesday 22 April 2025. The DRYAD project is inviting farmers and stakeholders to participate in a newly launched survey aimed at selecting the most effective nature-based solutions (NbS) for Mediterranean ecosystems. The survey is available in multiple languages, ensuring accessibility across the Mediterranean regions involved in the DRYAD Project.
The objective of this initiative is to identify and prioritize the best nature-based solutions through direct input from those who work closest to the land. By gathering insights from farmers and stakeholders, DRYAD aims to promote sustainable and effective environmental practices that enhance ecosystem resilience, biodiversity, and agricultural productivity.
The survey has been designed on the EU Survey platform, where participants will share their experiences with nature-based solutions (NbS) by indicating whether they have implemented them before and identifying the most effective ones. Their insights will help shape future implementation strategies, ensuring that the selected solutions are practical, impactful, and aligned with real-world agricultural and environmental challenges.
To support participants in making informed decisions, DRYAD has developed a comprehensive document that visually explains the 14 proposed nature-based solutions. This resource will help respondents understand the options available and their potential benefits before ranking their preferences in different agricultural and environmental scenarios.
The DRYAD Project encourages all farmers and stakeholders to take part in this critical initiative as they results will play a key role in shaping the future of sustainable land management in Mediterranean ecosystems.
The survey is available on the EU Survey platform and can be accessed here, select the language you prefer and check the NbS dossier including the description of each of them.
The DRYAD project, funded by the Horizon Europe programme, combines front-line scientific, technological, social, and business innovations as well as transformative solutions. It will be centered around development, testing and demonstrating NbS in 5 demonstration regions including Andalusia and Extremadura (ES), Alentejo (PT), Sardinia (IT) and Aetoloakarnania (EL) (5 in Cohesion Fund Regions). The most promising NbS will be transferred to these 3 replicating regions: Castilla-y-León (ES), Occitanie (FR) and Tuscany (IT). Furthermore, DRYAD will support a multi-level and cross-sectoral integrated and adaptive management governance via development of Decision Support Systems. DRYAD will mobilize regional and local authorities and stakeholders that own the climate challenge, research entities, private/public foundations, companies & citizens and involve them in co-creation, co-implementation, and co-validation processes by means of Living Labs. This will lead to the creation of real, widely re-applicable solutions with long-lasting impacts. The project will provide tools and implementation guidelines to promote sustainable and climate-resilient practices and facilitate regional adaptation plans, contributing to the Nature Restoration Law in terms of resilient nature and climate adaptations.
The consortium involves 27 partner organisations. 9 research entities (UDC, UT, UCO, UNISS, CNR, UEX, AUA, IST-ID, ISA) from 5 countries, 3 technical and scientific support entities (Fondazione CMCC, IFAPA, LNEG), 8 foundations and associations (FEUGA, UNAC, CONFAGRICOLTURA, FEDEHESA, Alberitalia, AGROOF, FPNCYL, COVAP), 4 regional/local authorities (CAPADR, AG-Forestas, DX, CCDRA) and 3 Small/Medium Companies (FSC Italia, Lezirias, ICATALIST).
