After the initial sessions in Portugal within Demonstration Region 3, the DRYAD Coordination Team from the University of A Coruña continued its technical visit in Spain, covering key sites in Extremadura (Demonstration Region 2) and Castilla y León (Replication Region 1).

This second phase of the visit began on 21 February at the La Albuera (Badajoz) Pilot Demonstration Area (PDA), where the team reviewed the installed monitoring equipment and gained first-hand insight into on-site data collection processes. The visit continued in Badajoz with coordination meetings with the University of Extremadura (UEx) and FEDEHESA, aimed at aligning strategies and priorities for the next phases of the project.

The following day was dedicated to field visits across several farms in Extremadura. Activities started at the Valdesequera experimental farm, north of Badajoz, where progress in the development of swine tracking and monitoring systems was reviewed. The team then visited Ganadería Pablos, near Trujillo, a representative example of year-round rotational grazing practices for cattle. In the afternoon, the visit continued at the Las Majadas PDA, where UEx is carrying out intensive and comprehensive monitoring activities. The coordination team was able to verify on site the progress of DRYAD-related work being implemented in this area.

The technical mission concluded the following day in Castilla y León, at the Replication Region 1 site in Trabadillo, within the Sardón river basin. There, the coordination team met with the farm owners, downloaded experimental data and carried out maintenance tasks, reinforcing coordination and support for replication activities in the region.

Overall, this technical visit confirmed the strong progress and effective implementation of nature-based solutions across Demonstration Regions 3 and 2, as well as the solid advancement of replication activities in the Sardón basin. These visits further strengthen collaboration among partners and support the continued technical and operational alignment of the DRYAD project.
