RR2 Pays de Cévennes, Occitania (France)
Current status
The Pays des Cévennes is a territory of 95 municipalities and 149 360 inhabitants in which are included the 72 municipalities of Alès Agglomération. An entity that completes the administrative perimeters of departments, agglomeration communities and municipalities, with the aim of developing a common development project. The Pays des Cévennes has launched many structuring projects to develop harmoniously and sustainably this territory of 149,360 inhabitants.
The area is suffering a lot with the effects of the climatic changes: drought, heavy rain in autumn and high temperature. These effects impact the forest and agroforest trees, the Silvo pastoralism practices and therefore the sustainability of the agriculture in the territory.
AGROOF supports pig farmers of the association Baron des Cévennes who develop silvopastoral farms in Cevennes, working on tree varieties selection, and tree and pig management at a farm scale. This RR will explore innovative agroforestry plots, monitored to evaluate the microclimate and agronomical services they can offer.
