The Spanish partners of the DRYAD Project gathered in Plasencia, Extremadura (Spain) on February 4th-5th for a key meeting at the University Center of Plasencia. The meeting brought together demonstration and replication leaders from various Spanish regions, along with our general coordinator, Javier Samper.
The primary goal of the meeting was to coordinate the Spanish institutions in evaluating and selecting the best Nature-based Solutions (NbS) to develop a unified implementation plan. This involved aligning the participation and coordination strategies with key stakeholders across Spanish regions, as well as establishing a method to assess the results of the implemented NbS. Additionally, the meeting focused on discussing the methodologies to replicate the Nbs in the Replication Regions.
The event kicked off with a visit to the fields in Extremadura, followed by in-depth discussions at the University Center of Plasencia. The objectives were successfully achieved, with the team creating a comprehensive list of NbS to be implemented and tested. A questionnaire was also developed to gather information on the implementation, knowledge, and preferences of farmers in Mediterranean agroforestry systems. This collaborative approach ensures that stakeholders are actively involved in selecting and implementing NbS, fostering more impactful and sustainable solutions.
