On 25 June, DRYAD took part in the technical event “Dehesa del Futuro: Connecting Change Agents”, held at the Castro Enríquez estate in Aldehuela de la Bóveda, Salamanca. The event gathered around 30 stakeholders from across the dehesa sector, including livestock farmers, landowners, managers, technical experts, public authorities, researchers, students, and representatives of organisations and companies linked to these unique agroforestry systems.
Conceived as a space for knowledge exchange and networking, the event focused on promoting more sustainable, resilient and profitable dehesa systems through the sharing of practical experiences and available solutions.
The programme included a series of short presentations and three roundtable discussions addressing key challenges for the sector: forage production and rotational grazing management, prevention and treatment of oak decline, and economically viable tree regeneration. The event concluded with a networking cocktail that encouraged further exchanges among participants. Check the full programme here.
For DRYAD, the technical day represented an important first contact with stakeholders from the province, helping to identify potential collaborators and strengthen local engagement. The event also reinforced cooperation with FAFCYLE, which reaffirmed its support for replicating DRYAD approaches in other suitable dehesa areas across Castilla y León.
The contacts established during the event will be invited to participate in the first DRYAD stakeholder workshop planned in Salamanca, contributing to the co-creation and future replication of Nature-based solutions in the region.
